A Visit From Afar

Wow - what a busy couple of months we have had! We were greeted with a lovely surprise in May when the cold and rain suddenly stopped and we had a few days of sunshine. Now, being Seattleites, we typically don't get too hopeful when we get a spell like that, but I'm happy to say we haven't had more than one day of rain for at least a month! I think we all deserved an early summer after having the wettest June on record in 2008.

But alas, the purpose of this post is not the weather, but of a very special visitor we had for two weeks in May - Grandma Jan. Unfortunately Grandpa wasn't able to join us this trip, but it was wonderful to have grandma come and join us on all of our many day-to-day outings. Daddy was able to join us for most of it as well, so we enjoyed days in the garden, some at the park, trips to the garden center, and mommy even took Grandma Jan and Grandma Trina to The Fairmont for high tea. At our most adventurous peak was a four mile hike to Twin Falls, which we haven't done since Bean was just a little squirt. The hiking backpack has certainly gained some weight since our last trip, but Daddy hauled the load without one complaint. Bean LOVES hikes. We may have a little geologist on our hands. She loves rocks, sand, sticks and pine cones, so the hike was right in her element.

The two weeks seemed to fly by, and before we knew it, we were waving good-bye. We hope to make it to the UK sometime this year, Lord willing, although a 10 hour plane ride with a toddler is a little daunting.

We miss you, grandma. Come back soon (and bring grandpa next time)!
